Fibroid treatments are important for a healthier life

Fibroids can be of different sizes. It can invisible to the human eye or grow to size of melon. It is a common type of uterus tumor found in females. It grows attached to wall of the womb. One patient can develop more than one fibroid and not be aware of it. Those patients who face no complications from fibroids can stay away from fibroid treatment.

Fibroids very rarely show visible symptoms. The symptoms may vary due to the location of the fibroids inside the uterus. Some indications of having fibroids are- heavy periods, prolonged period, abdominal pain, cramps and inflammation in stomach, frequency of urination, constipation and pain during defecation, pain during sexual intercourse, backache or pain in the legs.

Uterus fibroids usually remain undetected. A routine checkup with your gynecologist may result in detection of underlying fibroids. An enlarged womb is the indication that you might have developed fibroids. An ultrasound scan is also helpful in diagnosing if you have fibroids. MRI scan also be done to get an idea about your fibroid status. Many cases get discovered after a simple blood test. Anemia is another possibility of having fibroids.

Other methods include trans-vaginal scan, where a mini scanner is put inside to get a closure view. Hysteroscopy is the process where a tiny telescope is inserted in order to examine the interior of the uterus. Laparoscopy is a device to study the size and shape of the uterus. It looks like a small flexible tube. Biopsy is also done to find out the condition of fibroids. During biopsy a sample of the lining of the uterus is extracted. It is further examined with the help of a microscope.


Fibroid is very dangerous and it can lead to infertility or miscarriage. It is very important to get it diagnosed. The right measure should be taken for fibroid removal at the earliest.
